Red Bay Historic Sites & Interpretive Centres
• A WorldWeb.com Travel Guide to Historic Sites & Interpretive Centres in Red Bay, NL, Atlantic Canada.
Approximately 20 whaling stations were found along Red Bay, making it the world's largest whaling port from the 16th century. Small boats built during this time were also found at this site, where Basques were in charge of the fishery for over a century. Right and bowhead whales were often found in these waters, and a 430-year old whaling chalupa used by these whalers can be viewed.
