The Red Pine tree is the rarest species of indigenous coniferous tree in Newfoundland. You need to obtain a permit to enter this 10.74 square km. reserve. The reserve is located at the head waters of West Brook, and offers a wonderful natural experience.
Springdale Wetlands
Where the Indian river flows into Halls Bay, this diverse ecosystem is home to salmon, Canadian geese, yellowlegs and numerous other species. A wetland committee was formed in 2001 to protect this natural area.
